All in His timing

About two months ago my dad lost his job.  After working at the same place for 19 years, he was suddenly and unexpectedly let go.  It was a crazy time, and through the whole process of searching for his next job my dad was inspiringly calm.  He trusted God to provide and He did.

We didn't know why my dad lost his job, but let me tell you it's crazy how wonderful God's timing is.  Within the last month my grandpa has been in and out of the hospital.  This means that my grandma who needs almost constant care came to live at my house.  You see, my grandma has a disease that affects her brain's ability to communicate with her muscles- kind of like Parkinson's Disease.  She can no longer walk and can barely stand; she forgets how to do simple tasks and has trouble talking.  Taking care of her in itself is a big, exhausting job for just my mom.  On top of that, my grandpa- who is now also living at my house- is suffering from bleeding in his brain.  The bleeding has stopped and clotted, but until the blood (hopefully) seeps back into his brain he suffers from acute headaches.  Also, it has caused him to become confused.  He has trouble grasping the concept of time passing, reading, and comprehending what he reads.  As you can imagine, taking care of the two of them is quite the task. 

Having my dad at home has been an amazing help to my mom.  The two of them have worked as a team and have done a wonderful job taking care of my grandparents.  If my dad had not lost his job, he wouldn't be here to help my mom.  Now, my dad starts his next job on Monday, but it's ok because this is the first week my brother and I are home to help take care of my grandparents.  Isn't God's timing crazy good!?!

I tell you this story to encourage you.  When things happen that you don't understand, they make no sense to you and all you want to do is ask "why?", trust in God's timing.  As hard as it is, TRUST- because He has got it all under control.  Trust is something God has been teaching me (with my perfectionistic and control freak ways) about this past year, but that is a story for another time and another blog post. What I've learned can be pretty much summed up in this revelation: "Surrender. Trust. Wait."  Surrender your burden to God- He can take care of it infinitely better than you can (Psalm 55:22, Matt 11: 28-30), Trust that he will come through for you (Psalm 25:1, Psalm 37:4-6), and Wait in confidence (Psalm 37:7)

Wait for the LORD; 

Be strong and take heart

and wait for the LORD.
